Liverpool is advancing in their efforts to sign Martín Zubimendi, mirroring past successful signings through buyout clauses. Real Sociedad faces a potential historic transfer window with key players possibly leaving.

Liverpool is making strides in their bid to sign Martín Zubimendi, following a familiar strategy they used to acquire players like Alexis Mac Allister, Dominik Szoboszlai, and Ibrahima Konaté through buyout clauses.

This transfer window could be historic for Real Sociedad due to the substantial financial gains they might achieve, but it also presents challenges with key players potentially departing the 'txuri-urdin' squad. Robin Le Normand has already joined Atlético Madrid, and Mikel Merino is being pursued by Arsenal. The latest name in the spotlight is Martín Zubimendi, who is attracting significant interest from Liverpool, determined to secure his signing.

The news broke this Wednesday: the Reds are planning to activate his release clause, set at around €60 million. The player is under contract until 2027, and Real Sociedad demands full payment. For Liverpool to proceed, they needed the player’s approval, which, according to 'Relevo,' will be granted if Liverpool is committed to the deal.

Zubimendi appreciates his current situation in San Sebastián but is enticed by the prospect of moving to a giant club in England. Liverpool's appeal lies in their ambition to remain competitive at the highest level, even after the departure of a key figure like Jürgen Klopp. This interest allows Liverpool to negotiate with Real Sociedad for a more favorable payment method than the lump sum stipulated in the release clause.

The British club proposes paying more than the €60 million clause but in more manageable installments, rather than the single payment demanded by Real Sociedad. Both parties are currently negotiating this new approach.

Meanwhile, Zubimendi has made headlines in England this Thursday. Liverpool fans are excited about his potential signing, seeing him as a successor to Xabi Alonso. Interestingly, Alonso's agent, who also represents Zubimendi, is now working on Liverpool’s offensive to secure the midfielder, with less than a month left in the transfer window.
