Ibrahimovic urges Rashford to consider a move to AC Milan, with speculation surrounding the Manchester United forward's future intensifying ahead of the January transfer deadline.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic, now serving as a senior adviser to AC Milan, has publicly encouraged Marcus Rashford to consider joining the Italian giants if he decides to leave Manchester United. Amid growing speculation about Rashford’s future, Milan have reportedly made a formal approach, with his representatives spotted in Italy for discussions.
“I know him very well, I played with him when he was young. He’s now an adult and established,” Ibrahimovic told Sky Italy. “He did great things with United, and today that is his club. How to convince him? Milan is one of the biggest clubs in the world, everyone wants to play here. This is a difficult operation, we’ll see if we can talk to him.”
Rashford, who has found himself out of favour under new United head coach Ruben Amorim, has been linked with several European clubs, including Juventus, Napoli, and Borussia Dortmund. Meanwhile, Premier League sides Tottenham and West Ham are reportedly considering loan moves, provided a solution to his substantial wages can be found.
Milan’s interest has gained traction following recent remarks by new head coach Sergio Conceicao, who said last Friday: “Rashford is a good player like many others, some are on the market, others are not, let’s see what happens.”
Ibrahimovic, who spent two successful seasons at Old Trafford from 2016 to 2018, knows Rashford well from their time together at United. He was a key figure during Rashford’s early years in the first team, winning the Europa League and Carabao Cup during his stay.
With the January transfer window approaching its final days, it remains to be seen whether Milan can seal a deal for the England international, who still has time left on his United contract but could be tempted by a fresh start in Italy.
