Brazilian footballer Vitor Roque and model Dayana Lins are heading for divorce, with Lins revealing struggles in their short-lived marriage in an emotional social media post.
Vitor Roque, the 19-year-old Barcelona player currently on loan at Betis, and his 20-year-old wife, Brazilian model and influencer Dayana Lins, have decided to end their marriage just months after tying the knot. The couple, who married in December 2023, faced difficulties after relocating to Europe, with Lins citing changes in Roque’s behavior as the primary reason for their split.
Speaking to her 420,000 Instagram followers, Lins opened up about her experiences, saying: "I intend to divorce; we have already started negotiations. Unfortunately, the marriage did not work out. When we arrived in Europe, his attitude began to change. I think it happened because of the pressure of work. Football is like that."
Lins shared that she had moved countries to support her husband’s career, leaving behind her family, university, and job. However, she described feeling neglected and mistreated during the relationship, saying: "For example, when you have to ask if you can get what's in the fridge in your own house. When you feel helpless because you can't go out and buy food."
She also revealed that Roque’s behavior created a lack of empathy and support in their relationship: "They buy food and say it's for the dogs. When you ask them to buy food, it feels like you're asking strangers to do it."
Lins used her platform to share advice with her followers, urging them not to sacrifice their independence for a relationship: "If you had a fulfilling life before that one relationship, don't leave everything behind. Protect your achievements and ensure your partner is willing to compromise as much as you are."
Roque, who signed with Barcelona in a €30 million deal from Athletico Paranaense and is valued at €20 million on Transfermarkt, is considered one of Brazil’s top young talents. He moved to Camp Nou last summer but was loaned to Betis for more playing time.
While neither Roque nor his representatives have commented on Lins’s allegations, the revelations have brought attention to the personal challenges athletes and their partners face when adapting to life abroad.
