Aston Villa have secured the signing of Turkish defender Yasin Ozcan from Kasimpasa on a pre-contract deal, with the player set to join in the summer.
Aston Villa have officially confirmed the signing of Yasin Ozcan from Kasimpasa on a pre-contract agreement. The 18-year-old Turkish defender will remain with his current club for the rest of the season before linking up with Unai Emery’s squad in the summer.
Ozcan, a Turkey youth international, has signed a contract with Villa that runs until 2030. The deal, first reported by The Athletic in January, involves an upfront fee of €7 million (£5.83m; $7.22m), with an additional €1 million in potential add-ons.
Having made his professional debut at 16 in 2022 during Kasimpasa’s 4-0 defeat to Istanbul Basaksehir, Ozcan has since become a key figure for the Turkish side, amassing 81 appearances and scoring five goals across all competitions. His impressive performances have earned him caps at under-16, under-17, and under-21 levels for Turkey.
Ozcan’s arrival will bolster a Villa defense that has struggled with injuries this season. Pau Torres, Tyrone Mings, and Matty Cash have all spent time on the sidelines, while Ezri Konsa was forced off after just 27 minutes in Villa’s recent FA Cup fourth-round win against Tottenham Hotspur.
Villa have already moved to strengthen their defensive ranks in the January transfer window, signing right-back Andres Garcia from Levante and securing Axel Disasi on loan from Chelsea on deadline day. Ozcan’s addition will further deepen Emery’s options as the club looks to build on its recent progress.
