Veljko Birmančević has been dropped from Sparta Prague’s squad for the second time this season due to disciplinary issues. Reports suggest he may seek a transfer this winter.

This time, the fallout reportedly stems from a heated argument with the team's manager, Tomáš Sivok, during training.

Although the official reason given for Birmančević’s absence in the match against Baník was an injury, Czech outlets have revealed that the true cause is much more serious—a conflict with club officials. According to reports, the disagreement with Sivok escalated in the days leading up to the match, a claim that the team manager himself acknowledged.

"Emotions were running high. I raised my voice and had to be stricter, which I hate doing, but it was necessary," Sivok stated.

The confrontation reportedly involved a difference of opinion between Birmančević and Sivok, leading to a tense exchange. A source close to the club told inFotball:

"They will resolve this internally; it would be strange if it didn’t end that way. However, the situation is not looking good for Birmančević, as he reportedly refused to play and claimed to be unwell after feeling offended."

Following the match against Baník, Sparta head coach Lars Friis indirectly addressed the situation in a frustrated tone:

"This is a test for us—to see who we want, what we want, and who truly wants to be here and be part of this team," he said. Friis also noted that Birmančević is expected to be sidelined for four to six weeks, though he appeared uncertain about the potential disciplinary action awaiting the Serbian midfielder.

This internal issue couldn’t have come at a worse time for Sparta, who are preparing for a crucial Champions League match against Brest. Birmančević, one of the team’s standout players, is almost certain to miss the game.

Meanwhile, Czech media speculate that Birmančević may seek a transfer in the winter window, reportedly frustrated by the team's internal dynamics. Allegedly, he is dissatisfied with the significant presence of players from Kosovo and Albania (including Laci, Tuci, Rahmani, and Krasniqi) in the squad. Earlier this season, Birmančević was already suspended following a clash with one of these players.

Despite the internal tensions, Sparta fans have voiced their support for Birmančević. During the match against Baník, a banner in the stands read: "Support for Birma."
