Tiquinho Soares joins Santos on a two-year deal after completing medicals. The striker arrives as part of a €12M transfer involving young talent Jair.
Tiquinho Soares is set to join Santos, with the Brazilian club preparing an official announcement after the striker completed his medical examinations at the CT Rei Pelé facility on Saturday evening. The 33-year-old forward will sign a two-year contract with the Peixe, marking a new chapter in his career.
Tiquinho, a key figure in Botafogo’s Brasileirão and Copa Libertadores triumphs, was part of the deal that saw promising Santos center-back Jair move to Botafogo. In addition to securing Tiquinho’s services, Santos will receive €12 million (approximately R$75 million) as part of the agreement, according to UOL.
After an outstanding 2023 campaign, Tiquinho struggled in 2024, losing his starting role to players like Igor Jesus and Júnior Santos. He concluded the year with nine goals and eight assists in 53 appearances, a significant drop from his previous form.
At Santos, Tiquinho will work under Pedro Caixinha, the Portuguese coach recently appointed to replace Fábio Carille. Caixinha will aim to rejuvenate the striker’s form and integrate him effectively into the squad.
This transfer signals Santos’ ambition to strengthen their attacking options as they look to compete domestically and internationally in the coming seasons.
