Spanish journalist left baffled by tank outside Marakana stadium during Barcelona’s Champions League match against Crvena Zvezda, a replica symbol placed by Serbian fans.
Barcelona secured a decisive 5-2 win over Crvena Zvezda in the fourth round of the Champions League, with Robert Lewandowski scoring twice and Iñigo Martinez, Raphinha, and Fermin Lopez each adding a goal. For Crvena Zvezda, Silas and Milson were the scorers.
The match attracted a large number of Spanish journalists to Belgrade, and one moment captured by Ivan San Antonio, a journalist from the Catalan newspaper Sport, quickly gained popularity on Twitter. San Antonio was left stunned when he saw a tank parked outside Marakana Stadium—an armored military vehicle installed by Crvena Zvezda fans five years ago as a symbol of their support for the team.
The tank, a Russian T-55, is actually a replica, as explained by former Serbian Minister of the Interior Nebojša Stefanović, who assured the public at the time that it posed no danger to visitors. Despite this, the tank’s presence has continued to mystify some visitors, including San Antonio, who was recorded asking, "What’s this doing here?" in surprise.
The T-55 tank has become a fixture at the Marakana, regularly drawing the attention of fans and visitors alike before each Crvena Zvezda match.
