Jose Mourinho reportedly wants Sporting midfielder Morten Hjulmand at Real Madrid and has already outlined ideas for his coaching staff.
Jose Mourinho has not officially returned to Real Madrid, but reports in Spain suggest preparations for a new era are already underway.
According to information from Spanish media, the Portuguese coach is expected to take charge at the Santiago Bernabéu and has already started shaping ideas for next season’s squad.
The first reported target is not one of Europe’s usual superstar names.
Instead, Mourinho is said to have recommended Morten Hjulmand, the Danish midfielder and captain of Sporting CP.
The 26-year-old impressed in Portugal and reportedly convinced Mourinho with his tactical discipline, leadership and ability to control midfield.
According to reports, Sporting would demand around €50 million to consider a transfer.
Although Hjulmand does not carry the global profile of some names regularly linked with Real Madrid, Mourinho reportedly believes he fits an important need inside the squad.
The midfielder has developed into one of Sporting’s key players and has attracted attention for his consistency and defensive work.
There is also discussion about changes behind the scenes.
Reports suggest Mourinho would like to add a former Real Madrid figure to his coaching group, similar to his successful collaboration with Aitor Karanka during his previous spell at the club.
One surprising name mentioned is Toni Kroos, who could potentially act as a link between the dressing room and the club hierarchy.
Real Madrid are still expected to wait until the end of the season before confirming major decisions regarding the bench and squad structure.
If the reports prove accurate, Mourinho’s second Madrid project would begin with a different approach, focusing less on star power and more on building balance in the middle of the pitch.
