Barcelona officially confirmed this past weekend the departure of a midfielder who had been with the club continuously since 2010.
Yesterday, Barcelona bid farewell to Sergi Roberto, whose contract technically expired at the end of the month, meaning he has been without a club for over a month.
Barcelona and Sergi Roberto had left the door open for a potential renewal, but the club's new coach, Hansi Flick, decided that the 32-year-old would not be part of his plans.
Sergi Roberto joined La Masia at the age of 14 and made his first-team debut in 2010. Since then, he made 373 appearances for Barcelona, scoring 19 goals and providing 43 assists.
Sergi Roberto began his career as a midfielder but later became more established as a right-back.
There is considerable interest in the 11-time Spanish international, with Sevilla and Italian clubs Roma and Como reportedly the most interested in securing his services.
