Ruud van Nistelrooy leaves Manchester United after a short interim role. The legendary striker departs as the club transitions to new management under Ruben Amorim.

Ruud van Nistelrooy, the iconic former Manchester United striker, has officially left the club after a brief stint as interim manager. Van Nistelrooy joined Erik ten Hag’s coaching staff in July, taking on the role of assistant, and many speculated that he had ambitions to eventually lead the team himself, considering his successful experience as head coach of PSV Eindhoven.

After Ten Hag’s departure, van Nistelrooy was given a short-lived opportunity to lead the team. During his four-match tenure, he guided United to an impressive run of three wins and one draw, stabilizing the squad in a transitional period. However, with Ruben Amorim set to take over as the new head coach, United announced today that van Nistelrooy, along with the remaining members of Ten Hag’s staff, will be leaving the club.

It appears that van Nistelrooy and Amorim did not align on his potential future role within the team, which led to his departure. The club released a statement praising his contributions and emphasizing his lasting legacy.

"Ruud is, and will always be, a legend of Manchester United. We are grateful for his work and for the way he stepped up when needed. He will always be welcome at Old Trafford," the statement read.

Manchester United now looks forward to a new era under Ruben Amorim, while fans bid farewell to one of the club’s most beloved figures.
