Red Star Belgrade sells Hwang In-Beom to Feyenoord for €8 million, but a portion of the fee will be paid to Olympiakos due to a prior agreement.
Red Star Belgrade has sold Hwang In-Beom to Feyenoord for €8 million, but the Serbian champions will not receive the full transfer fee. A portion of the sum will go to Olympiakos, the club from which the South Korean midfielder joined Red Star a year ago.
According to Sportdog, a well-informed portal covering Olympiakos-related matters, the Piraeus-based club is set to receive €600,000 as part of the deal. The agreement between Red Star and Olympiakos, finalized in August 2022, stipulates that Olympiakos would receive 20% of the amount over €5 million.
Red Star originally paid €5.5 million for Hwang, and with the additional €600,000 going to Olympiakos, the Serbian club’s financial gain from the transfer is essentially neutral when factoring in the player’s salary and bonuses. However, the club is satisfied, considering Hwang’s contribution on the pitch, particularly his performance in the Champions League qualifying match against Bodø/Glimt, which helped secure millions from reaching the group stage.
