Spartak Moscow has officially terminated the contract of notorious Dutch footballer Quincy Promes today.
Quincy Promes, the controversial Dutch footballer, has been in deep trouble for a long time. At least on the surface, his life and career were being saved by Spartak Moscow, who supported him despite his conviction in the Netherlands and shielded him from foreign law enforcement.
Now, the 32-year-old Dutchman, currently in a Dubai prison awaiting extradition to the Netherlands, is entirely on his own as the Russian club announced they have unilaterally terminated his contract.
Promes has been sentenced to six years in prison for his involvement in a drug trafficking operation worth $75 million, which he will have to serve as soon as he steps foot on Dutch soil.
Promes is also facing issues in Russia, where he is accused of tax evasion, which is likely one of the main reasons Spartak decided to cut ties with him.
