Patrick Dorgu joined Manchester United for €30 million but will earn just £40,000 a week, less than the club's third-choice goalkeeper.

Danish prospect Patrick Dorgu has officially joined Manchester United from Lecce for €30 million, marking the Italian club's most lucrative deal in its history. While the fee suggests a high-profile addition, Dorgu's salary paints a very different picture.

According to The Athletic, Dorgu will earn just £40,000 per week, placing him among the lowest-paid players in United’s first team. Surprisingly, his wage is even lower than third-choice goalkeeper Tom Heaton, who takes home £45,000 weekly.

Only Altay Bayindir, United’s second-choice goalkeeper, and Kobbie Mainoo, who signed his first professional contract in February 2023, earn less than Dorgu. This modest wage structure is unexpected for a player commanding such a significant transfer fee, suggesting Dorgu may have accepted less favorable personal terms to facilitate the move.

For comparison, veteran defender Jonny Evans earns £65,000 per week, while Casemiro tops United's payroll with a staggering £375,000 weekly salary.
