Sevilla and Betis, the fierce rivals from Andalusia, are reportedly vying for Red Star Belgrade's goalkeeper Omri Glazer, potentially igniting a transfer battle off the field.
The intense rivalry between Sevilla and Betis is well known in football circles, and it might just escalate off the field as both Andalusian clubs set their sights on Omri Glazer, the goalkeeper of Red Star Belgrade. According to the Spanish publication As, the teams from La Liga see Glazer as a potential solution between the posts.
Sevilla, in particular, is demonstrating significant interest in the Israeli goalkeeper, with the club's management making several trips to Belgrade to observe the potential reinforcement.
The goalkeeping situation at Sevilla, especially since the injury of Orjan Nyland in November and the perceived inadequacy of Marko Dmitrović as a replacement, has led to the search for a goalkeeper who can intensify competition next summer, with Glazer emerging as the prime candidate.
Betis, on the other hand, is looking for a successor for Claudio Bravo, the veteran goalkeeper set to end his illustrious career at the close of the season and join the coaching staff. This development has prompted Betis to explore new goalkeeping options to compete with Rui Silva.
It's worth noting that Glazer joined Red Star last summer from Hapoel Be'er Sheva, handpicked by then-coach Barak Bachar, and his transfer fee of €1.2 million has been justified by a solid half-season.
Red Star Belgrade may now be in a position to capitalize on the sale of Glazer just a year after his arrival, as both Sevilla and Betis consider launching bids for the goalkeeper.
