Mauricio Pochettino has officially been appointed as the new head coach of the USA national football team, aiming to lead the squad to success in the 2026 World Cup.
Renowned Argentine manager Mauricio Pochettino has been officially named the new head coach of the United States men's national football team. His main task will be to prepare the team for the upcoming 2026 World Cup, which will be held on American soil for the second time in history.
At 52 years old, Pochettino, following a successful club career, has decided to embark on a new challenge with the US national team.
"I couldn’t pass up this opportunity. This decision is not just about me; I’m happy to be part of this adventure with the national team and this country. I felt a great deal of energy, passion, and desire to create something truly special here. That inspires me greatly. I see a team full of talent and potential, and together, we’ll try to achieve something that will make the entire country proud," said Pochettino.
Pochettino replaces Gregg Berhalter, who lost his position after the USA was eliminated in the group stage of the Copa America.
