Nurnberg eyes record €18 million move for Greek wonderkid Stefanos Tzimas, guided by Miroslav Klose. Could a future resale to bigger clubs bring even bigger profits?
According to reports from Sky, Nurnberg, a club competing in the 2. Bundesliga, is on the verge of completing an extraordinary transfer. The Bavarian club is ready to activate the €18 million buyout clause in the contract of 18-year-old Greek striker Stefanos Tzimas, who is currently on loan from PAOK Thessaloniki.
The exceptionally talented forward has been in remarkable form this season, scoring seven goals in 11 appearances for Nurnberg in the second tier of German football. His performances have convinced the club to pursue what would be a record-breaking transfer for a 2. Bundesliga side.
A record-breaking deal with big ambitions
If the deal goes through, Nurnberg would surpass its current transfer record by sixfold to secure Tzimas’ services permanently. However, the club’s primary motivation isn’t just to keep the Greek prodigy but to sell him to a bigger club for an even higher fee.
Interest in Tzimas has reportedly come from Bundesliga clubs as well as Premier League sides, with potential buyers already willing to pay well above €18 million for the young star.
Miroslav Klose’s influence
At the helm of Nurnberg is Miroslav Klose, the legendary German striker and the all-time leading scorer at FIFA World Cups. His expertise in developing attacking talent has been pivotal in Tzimas’ rapid rise. Interestingly, Klose was a candidate for the managerial role at Ljubljana's Olimpija last year but ultimately took charge of Nurnberg, where he now oversees one of the most promising young players in European football.
With Tzimas’ stock rising quickly, Nurnberg’s bold move could pay off handsomely, both on the pitch and financially, as the club eyes a potential windfall from reselling the Greek wonderkid.
