Olsen was critical of both Erling Haaland and Arsenal star Martin Ødegaard after the draw with Kazakhstan.
Norway went into the away match against Kazakhstan as clear favorites, but they returned home with only a point after a 0-0 draw last night. Erling Haaland, the team's biggest star, received very poor ratings for his performance, and even coach Olsen admitted he had never seen the Manchester City striker perform so poorly. Martin Ødegaard, the Arsenal player, also failed to impress.
"We have two top players in the team, but unfortunately, today Erling Haaland was well below his usual level. I've never seen him play this poorly. Martin Ødegaard shows glimpses of brilliance at times, but we know he can do better, and unfortunately, we only have one point."
Olsen also took a moment to congratulate the opponent and shared his view that Kazakhstan will be a tough challenge for many teams. Slovenia already experienced this in the previous qualification cycle, and they will meet them again the day after tomorrow when Kazakhstan visits Stožice. The Slovenian national team has won its last two matches 2-1.
Norway will host Austria on Monday evening, a team that played to a 1-1 draw with Slovenia in Ljubljana last night.
