Rumors suggest Aleksandar Mitrović could leave Al Hilal, with Edin Džeko possibly lined up as his replacement if the Serbian striker heads back to Europe.

A dramatic turn of events is unfolding at Al Hilal, Saudi Arabia’s top club, with reports indicating that Aleksandar Mitrović may soon depart, possibly returning to Europe, specifically the English Premier League. Serbian media claim that Mitrović is eager for a move back to European football, despite Al Hilal's significant financial investment.

Turkish media, relayed by Kurir, have linked Al Hilal’s interest to Edin Džeko, the Bosnian national team captain currently with Fenerbahce. With Džeko’s contract expiring at the end of this season, he is reportedly considering a move to Al Hilal, potentially to finish his career there on a one-year contract, with an option for an additional year.

Mitrović, who joined Al Hilal in a high-profile move, reportedly earns €25 million annually and has a contract until June 2026. Recent Saudi media reports hinted at an improved contract offer to secure his stay, but "Mitrogol" appears inclined to return to Europe. The club may, however, hesitate to part ways with their 30-year-old striker, who is currently the league’s top scorer with nine goals, ahead of Karim Benzema and Cristiano Ronaldo.

In international play, Mitrović recently scored in Serbia's 2-0 victory over Switzerland in Leskovac, further underlining his form. It remains uncertain whether Al Hilal will be willing to replace their star forward with the experienced but older Džeko, who is 38.
