Red Star Belgrade fell 2-1 to AC Milan at San Siro, with Tammy Abraham’s late goal dashing the visitors’ hopes after a resilient performance by the Serbian team.
AC Milan edged past Red Star Belgrade in a tightly contested Champions League match at San Siro. Slovenian international Timi Max Elšnik delivered a commendable performance for the visitors, but it wasn’t enough to secure points for the Serbian side.
The Italian giants took the lead late in the first half when Rafael Leao showcased his skill, expertly controlling the ball in the penalty area before finishing past Red Star goalkeeper Omri Glazer. The visitors responded in the 63rd minute as Nemanja Radonjić found space on the edge of the box and fired a precise shot to beat Milan’s Mike Maignan, leveling the score at 1-1.
However, in the dying moments of regulation time, substitute Tammy Abraham broke Red Star’s resistance. Latching onto a well-placed cross, the English striker netted the decisive goal, securing Milan’s fourth consecutive win in the group stage. The victory moves Milan to 12th place in the league standings, while Red Star remains on three points after six matches.
Feyenoord 4-2 Sparta Prague
In Rotterdam, Feyenoord emerged victorious in a thrilling 4-2 encounter against Sparta Prague. The Dutch side dominated with goals from Santiago Gimenez, Moussa, Igor Paixao, and Gernot Trauner. They also conceded an own goal by Quinten Beelen and a strike from Amir Rrahmani, but the home side comfortably secured all three points.
Benfica 0-0 Bologna
In Lisbon, Benfica and Bologna played out a goalless draw. The result suits Benfica, who remain in contention for the playoff spots leading to the knockout rounds. Bologna, making their debut in the Champions League, have struggled to impress, sitting on just two points after six rounds.
