Memphis Depay, thriving at Corinthians, openly invites Neymar to join him, adding intrigue to the Brazilian star’s potential return to his home country.
Memphis Depay has reignited his career in Brazil, where his move to Corinthians has proven successful. The Dutch forward, formerly of Barcelona and Manchester United, has helped the team climb to seventh in the league, with a remarkable run of six consecutive victories and 16 goals scored during that stretch.
In a recent interview with Brazilian media, Depay expressed his desire to team up with Neymar, who has been linked with a return to Brazil. While Neymar’s name is most commonly associated with a move back to his boyhood club Santos, Depay hinted at their strong relationship and the possibility of Neymar joining Corinthians instead.
"Did I invite him? Ney knows exactly what I told him (laughs)! Of course, Neymar is incredibly important for this country. He’s still a superstar who can lead Brazil to success at the World Cup. I’d love to be his teammate at Corinthians," Depay said. "I know he’s from Santos, but he has many friends who support Corinthians. Most importantly, he should be happy, wherever he plays."
Neymar’s uncertain future
Neymar currently plays for Al Hilal in Saudi Arabia but has struggled with frequent injuries, limiting his appearances this season. His contract runs until the end of the current campaign, and speculation about his next move continues to grow.
