Marseille striker Mason Greenwood has been recognized for his outstanding performances, winning the Ligue 1 Player of the Month award for December.

The French players’ union (UNFP) has announced that Mason Greenwood, the 23-year-old England international, has been named Ligue 1 Player of the Month for the first time in his career. Greenwood edged out competition from Lyon’s Rayan Cherki and Lille’s Jonathan David to claim the prestigious award.

Greenwood’s decisive contributions helped propel Marseille to key victories last month. He scored in a 2-1 win over Monaco and a 2-0 victory against Saint-Etienne, showcasing his clinical finishing and ability to perform under pressure.

Greenwood’s stellar form continued into January, as he played a pivotal role in Marseille’s 2-1 triumph over Rennes. He scored the equalizer before halftime and assisted Adrien Rabiot for the winner, further cementing his status as one of Ligue 1’s standout performers.

With 14 goal contributions this season, Greenwood has matched Jonathan David at the top of the Ligue 1 scoring charts.

His all-around impact, however, sets him apart, as no player in the league has been directly involved in more goals.
