Manchester City’s largest fan group, We Are 1984, will unveil a banner mocking Vinicius Jr. before Tuesday’s Champions League clash with Real Madrid, referencing Oasis and Rodri’s Ballon d’Or win.
Manchester City fans are preparing to take a swipe at Vinicius Junior and Real Madrid ahead of their highly anticipated Champions League showdown at the Etihad Stadium. Supporters will unveil a banner featuring Rodri kissing the Ballon d’Or, accompanied by the message: "Stop crying your heart out."
The initiative comes from City’s most prominent fan group, We Are 1984, who confirmed that the banner will be displayed five minutes before kick-off and remain visible until the Champions League anthem concludes. "For everyone to see," the group stated.
The banner is a direct response to Real Madrid’s last-minute withdrawal from the Ballon d’Or gala in Paris after it became clear that Rodri would win the award ahead of Vinicius Jr. and other Madrid players. The choice of message, referencing the famous Oasis song "Stop Crying Your Heart Out," adds another layer of mockery, given the band's strong Manchester roots.
Man City and Real Madrid have built an intense rivalry in recent years, frequently clashing in the latter stages of the Champions League. With tensions already high ahead of their latest meeting, this fan stunt is sure to add fuel to the fire.
