Robert Lewandowski has become only the fourth player in history to score 20+ Champions League goals for two different clubs, joining Cristiano Ronaldo, Harry Kane, and Neymar in an exclusive elite group.
Robert Lewandowski continues to write his own chapter in Champions League history. The Barcelona striker reached another extraordinary milestone in the 4-2 victory over Slavia Prague, scoring his 20th Champions League goal for the Catalan club.
With that strike, Lewandowski has joined an extremely exclusive club. Only three players before him have managed to score 20 or more Champions League goals for two different clubs.
Those players are Cristiano Ronaldo (Manchester United and Real Madrid), Harry Kane (Tottenham and Bayern Munich) and Neymar (Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain). Now, Lewandowski joins them, having previously scored 69 Champions League goals for Bayern Munich before crossing the 20-goal mark with Barcelona.
The Polish striker has also achieved another remarkable feat: he has now scored in 15 different Champions League seasons. Only Ronaldo (16), Lionel Messi and Karim Benzema (18) have done it more times.
Lewandowski opened his Champions League account for the 2025/26 season against Slavia after several quiet matches and admitted his relief afterwards.
"Finally the first goal came. Hopefully it will get easier now," he said.
The goal also pushed him to 114 goals in UEFA competitions, keeping him third on the all-time list, behind only Messi (132) and Ronaldo (145).
Lewandowski first scored in the Champions League back in 2011 while playing for Borussia Dortmund, and he has maintained elite-level consistency for more than a decade.
Despite his enduring impact, questions remain about his future. At 37 years old, his contract at Barcelona is approaching its final phase, and there has been increasing speculation about a possible move to MLS, where he could join Lionel Messi at Inter Miami.
Barcelona coach Hansi Flick has not ruled anything out.
"I don’t know where Robert will be next season. I’m very happy with him, but we will decide at the end of the season," Flick said.
Lewandowski himself remains cautious.
"I still have time to make a decision. There is no pressure. A lot depends on the club’s plan and what I want," he said.
According to Spanish media, Barcelona are open to keeping him for another season, mainly because they currently do not have a clear replacement. Ferran Torres has often played as a striker this season, but Flick wants more depth in attack.
Interestingly, Harry Kane is once again being mentioned in Barcelona circles. The Bayern striker has exit clauses in his contract and would be a direct symbolic successor to Lewandowski – just as he was in Munich.
For now, however, Lewandowski is still delivering at the highest level – and his place among Champions League royalty is now beyond any doubt.
