Leicester City have expressed interest in signing Steven Bergwijn from Ajax during the summer transfer window, according to renowned journalist Fabrizio Romano. Leicester has approached Ajax to discuss the conditions needed to secure a deal for the Dutch forward.
Bergwijn, 26, who can play as a forward or winger, joined Ajax from Tottenham Hotspur in the summer of 2022. The Netherlands international made 23 starts and one substitute appearance in the Eredivisie last season, scoring 12 goals and providing four assists. In the 2022-23 season, Bergwijn made 28 starts and four substitute appearances in the Eredivisie, scoring 12 goals and giving five assists.
During his stint at Tottenham Hotspur, Bergwijn scored seven goals in 60 Premier League appearances. Leicester City, who secured promotion to the Premier League after winning the Championship, are looking to bolster their squad, and Bergwijn is a key target.
