Laura Woods and Adam Collard put their romance on hold as they supported opposing teams in the Carabao Cup semi-final between Newcastle United and Arsenal.
Newcastle secured a dominant 4-0 aggregate victory over the Gunners, sealing their place in the final after a 2-0 win in the second leg at St. James’ Park.
A house divided over football loyalties
Woods, a passionate Arsenal fan, watched the match alongside her partner Collard, a die-hard Newcastle supporter, while holding their newborn son Leo. During the game, Collard posted a video of himself celebrating, with Woods wagging her finger in disapproval.
The clip also revealed where their son's football loyalties lie—Leo was dressed in a Newcastle babygrow with "Toon Army" emblazoned across it as he lay on a cushion on his mum's lap.
Collard makes sure Leo is a Newcastle fan
Before the first leg of the semi-final, Collard had already made his intentions clear, sharing a photo of Leo in a baby grow reading “mini Magpie”. Woods playfully reacted by resharing the post and adding the caption “fuming”.
Arteta frustrated with Arsenal’s exit
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta was visibly frustrated after his team’s elimination.
“We had so many expectations to believe that we could turn it around,” he said. “We didn’t generate momentum, especially in the first half. We had big moments with Martin [Ødegaard] but didn’t capitalise, and then they scored and the game shifted.”
Newcastle now awaits the winner of Liverpool vs. Tottenham for a chance to lift the Carabao Cup at Wembley.
