Central Córdoba’s Luis Angulo jokingly accused Keylor Navas of promising a jersey swap after Newell’s defeat but failing to deliver, adding humor to the post-match reaction.

In only his second appearance for Newell’s Old Boys, Keylor Navas showcased his trademark shot-stopping skills but couldn’t prevent his team from falling 2-0 to Central Córdoba in Matchday 4 of Group A in the 2025 Torneo Apertura. However, the Costa Rican goalkeeper made headlines not just for his performance but also for a light-hearted post-match controversy.

After the match, Luis Angulo, forward for Central Córdoba, spoke to the media in the mixed zone and jokingly accused Navas of failing to honor a jersey swap promise. “Today he… how do you say it here? He sweet-talked me,” Angulo laughed, referring to the Argentine slang “me chamuyó,” which means to charm or deceive playfully.

Angulo detailed the interaction: “He told me whatever, that he had already given his shirt away but would send me one later. But I knew he wasn’t going to send it.”

The exchange happened right after the final whistle when Angulo approached Navas to request his jersey. The veteran keeper promised to deliver but only gave Angulo a friendly pat on the chest before leaving the field—without the shirt ever making its way to the Colombian striker.

Interestingly, the pair had crossed paths earlier in the match during a key moment when Navas denied Angulo a goal. The Colombian forward sprinted down the left wing, received a perfectly timed through ball, and fired a powerful cross-shot. Navas dove brilliantly to make the save, and in the ensuing scramble, a deflection nearly led to an own goal, but the Costa Rican was quick to react again, keeping Newell’s in the game.

Despite Navas' heroics, Newell's couldn't recover, and Central Córdoba secured the win, but Angulo’s post-match anecdote added a humorous twist to the night.
