Thiago Motta’s Juventus struggles draw comparisons to their disappointing 2010/11 campaign. Despite being unbeaten, too many draws have left the team in a precarious position.
The current situation at Juventus is reminiscent of their underwhelming 2010/11 season, marked by poor performances and frustrated fans. Thiago Motta, who was hired after a successful stint at Bologna where he secured a Champions League spot, is now under scrutiny. Despite Juventus being unbeaten in Serie A, their problem lies in the excessive number of draws. With 12 stalemates in 19 rounds, the Turin giants have accumulated just 33 points, their worst tally at this stage in 14 years.
Interestingly, several parallels can be drawn between this season and the 2010/11 campaign. Back then, Juventus had recently appointed sporting director Beppe Marotta, who hired Luigi Delneri following his success with Sampdoria, where he led them to a fourth-place finish. Similarly, the current sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli, also relatively new to the club, brought in Thiago Motta, who had impressed with Bologna.
Delneri’s time at Juventus was short-lived and unsuccessful, and his subsequent managerial career never hit similar heights. While this doesn’t guarantee a similar fate for Motta, the signs are concerning. Fans are growing increasingly impatient, as draws are not enough for a club with such high expectations.

Juventus will have a chance to redeem themselves on Tuesday when they face Atalanta, one of the title contenders. However, it will be a tough challenge, and anything less than a win will further escalate the pressure on Motta.
