Colombian striker Jhon Duran will be racking up airline miles daily after joining Al Nassr, as he has chosen to live in neighboring Bahrain due to Saudi Arabia’s strict regulations.

Duran, who recently made a surprise switch from Aston Villa to the Saudi Pro League, has opted to reside 500 kilometers away from his club’s base in Riyadh. The reason? His relationship with Angela Capella, his long-time partner.

Under Saudi Arabian law, unmarried couples are not permitted to live together. Since Duran and Capella are not legally married, they cannot share a home in Saudi Arabia. As a result, the 20-year-old forward has decided to live in Bahrain, where restrictions are far more relaxed.

To maintain his professional commitments at Al Nassr, Duran will commute daily by plane from Bahrain to Riyadh for training and matches.

This situation is not unique, as several foreign footballers in the Saudi Pro League have also chosen to live in Bahrain for similar reasons.
