Iker Muniain is determined to join River Plate, aiming to fulfill his dream of winning the Copa Libertadores under Marcelo Gallardo.
The season in Spain is about to begin, and Iker Muniain still does not have a team. The former Athletic Club captain’s intention, as confirmed by his agent, is to play for River Plate under Marcelo Gallardo.
"He is 31 years old, in great physical shape, and wants to fulfill his dream. He doesn't care about the financial aspect or being away from his family for a while. He only wants to wear River's jersey and win the Libertadores," said Omar Rodríguez, Muniain’s agent, in 'Bolavip'. "Iker continues to reject very important offers because he is committed to the idea of playing for River," added Rodríguez, aware of the recent changes at the 'Millonario' club.
The departure of Martín Demichelis and the arrival of Marcelo Gallardo have delayed Muniain’s potential move to the 'Millonario' team, something that could happen in the coming days, according to the player's offer.
"After he decided to leave Athletic Club, the first time I sat down with Iker to discuss his plans, he told me that he wanted to play for River. And he still holds that idea," Rodríguez concluded.
