Hull City are set to sign Lucas Gourna-Douath from RB Salzburg for around €6 million, with the French midfielder expected to undergo his medical today.

Acun Ilicali is showing no signs of slowing down after Hull City's promotion to the Premier League. The club has already confirmed eight summer signings, and number nine appears to be only a matter of time.
Lucas Gourna-Douath is expected to undergo his medical today before completing his transfer to Hull City.
The 23-year-old French midfielder is set to sign a five-year contract, while Hull are expected to pay RB Salzburg around €6 million.
Considering Gourna-Douath's age, experience and potential, the price could represent an interesting piece of business for the newly-promoted Premier League club.
Hull take advantage of contract situation
One of the main reasons behind the relatively modest transfer fee is Gourna-Douath's contractual situation in Austria.
His agreement with Salzburg is approaching its final stages, reducing the Austrian club's negotiating position and allowing Hull to secure the midfielder without paying a significantly higher fee.
Gourna-Douath developed at Saint-Etienne, where he made his senior breakthrough at a young age before moving to Salzburg.
He has also spent time with Roma and represented France at several youth levels.
Still only 23, Gourna-Douath offers Hull a player with experience in different European leagues and room for further development.
Ilicali continues ambitious summer rebuild
The potential arrival is another sign of owner Acun Ilicali's determination to give Hull the strongest possible chance of surviving their first season back among England's elite.
Hull have already completed eight new signings this summer, with Gourna-Douath set to become the ninth.
The strategy has been clear. Rather than relying on the squad that earned promotion, Hull have moved aggressively in the transfer market to build a group capable of competing at Premier League level.
Gourna-Douath also fits the profile of a signing with potential resale value. If the Frenchman establishes himself in England, his market value could rise considerably from the approximately €6 million Hull are preparing to invest.
Manchester United await on opening weekend
There is little time for Hull's new-look squad to settle.
The club will begin its 2026/27 Premier League campaign on August 22, when Manchester United visit Hull.
With only ten days remaining before the opening match, Hull are trying to complete the final pieces of their squad as quickly as possible.
If Gourna-Douath passes his medical and signs his contract as expected, Ilicali will have delivered nine new players before Hull even kick a ball in their Premier League return.
