Former Real Madrid player Antonio Cassano harshly criticized Cristiano Ronaldo, claiming that he lacks footballing ability and only focuses on scoring goals.
Controversial Italian and former Real Madrid player Antonio Cassano has launched a scathing attack on Cristiano Ronaldo, claiming that despite his record-breaking achievements, the Portuguese legend is not a team player.
Cassano, who has become known for his outspoken comments since retiring, didn’t hold back during a recent appearance on the Viva El Futbol podcast. He claimed Ronaldo lacks the footballing ability to connect with teammates like other strikers, despite scoring an incredible number of goals.
"Cristiano Ronaldo doesn’t know how to play football. He could have scored 3,000 goals, I don’t care. Higuain, Aguero, Benzema, Lewandowski, Ibrahimović, and Suarez knew how to connect with players. They knew how to do many things, unlike Ronaldo, who has only one objective on the field — to score goals," Cassano said.
This is not the first time Cassano has criticized Ronaldo. In 2022, he suggested the Portuguese star should retire rather than continue playing. Cassano, who retired in 2017, played for clubs like Milan, Inter, Real Madrid, and Roma, and earned 39 caps for Italy, scoring 10 goals.
