Marseille’s Geronimo Rulli saves his third consecutive penalty in Ligue 1, becoming a key figure in their title chase, now four points behind PSG.

Geronimo Rulli, the Argentine international goalkeeper, has achieved an extraordinary feat in Ligue 1, saving three penalties in a row during league matches. The Marseille keeper delivered his latest heroics last night in a 2-1 win against Rennes, solidifying his reputation as a key figure in the team’s push for the title.

Rulli, who has played for several top European clubs and is beloved by fans wherever he goes, has become only the second goalkeeper in recent Ligue 1 history to save three consecutive penalties. The last player to achieve this was Serbian goalkeeper Predrag Rajković, who managed the feat in 2019 while playing for Reims.

Rajković, now 29, left France in 2022 to join Mallorca in Spain before moving to Saudi Arabia to play for Al-Ittihad last summer.

Rulli’s outstanding performance has helped Marseille secure second place in Ligue 1, just four points behind leaders Paris Saint-Germain. However, Marseille has played one more match than PSG, intensifying the race at the top of the table.
