Jorge Sampaoli returns to management with Rennes in France, signing a contract until 2026. The former Argentina coach aims to improve the struggling Ligue 1 club.
Former Argentina national team coach Jorge Sampaoli has had a rocky few years in management. His most recent stint with Brazilian giants Flamengo ended in disappointment, as he was dismissed after only five months in charge.
Now, after a year-long break, the 64-year-old is making a comeback, this time in France. Sampaoli has signed a contract with Rennes, marking his second spell in French football. The deal with Rennes, who currently sit in a disappointing 13th place in Ligue 1, will keep him at the club until 2026.
Sampaoli's most successful moments as a manager came during his time with the Chile national team, where he won the 2015 Copa America. He later went on to manage several prominent European clubs, including Sevilla and Marseille.
