Flamengo is negotiating with Arsenal to sign Jorginho, with plans to offer the midfielder a three-year contract amid preparations for a busy season.
Flamengo has initiated discussions to sign Jorginho, the 33-year-old midfielder currently at Arsenal. The Brazilian club intends to acquire the player without a transfer fee and has already presented a three-year contract proposal to him. Talks are underway, with Jorginho reportedly seeking an early release from Arsenal to facilitate the move.
Arsenal and Flamengo relations could ease the transfer
Jorginho is in the final six months of his contract with Arsenal and is free to negotiate a pre-contract with other clubs. Flamengo, however, is eager to bring him in during the current transfer window, avoiding any delays.
Arsenal, which maintains a positive relationship with Flamengo, has indicated it might release Jorginho if a suitable offer is made. The midfielder has appeared in 18 matches for the Gunners this season, most recently starting in their FA Cup match against Manchester United.
A marquee signing for Flamengo’s big year
Jorginho would be a key addition to Flamengo’s squad as they prepare for a demanding season, including participation in the FIFA Club World Cup in June. The club also has commitments in the Brasileirão, Copa do Brasil, Libertadores, and the Carioca Championship.
