Felix Magath, renowned for his demanding coaching style, is rumored to be making a comeback at Unterhaching, a third-tier German club fighting relegation.

Felix Magath, the 71-year-old German coaching legend, is reportedly on the verge of making a surprising return to the dugout. According to German media, Magath is the leading candidate to take over Unterhaching, a team struggling at the bottom of the 3. Liga. If the deal is finalized, it will mark Magath’s 12th managerial role in a storied career defined by both success and controversy.

Magath earned his reputation as a strict disciplinarian with unconventional training methods, earning him the nickname "tyrant" in the footballing world. His career highlights include three seasons with Bayern Munich, where he won back-to-back Bundesliga and DFB-Pokal doubles, and his historic title with Wolfsburg in the 2008/2009 season, the club’s only championship to date.

Magath has been out of management since leaving Hertha Berlin in 2022, leading many to believe he had retired. However, the opportunity to rescue Unterhaching from their current crisis may have rekindled his interest in coaching.

Unterhaching currently sits at the bottom of the 3. Liga, with just 14 points from 19 matches. The Bavarian club is six points away from safety, prompting an urgent search for a new manager. Former German international Sven Bender stepped in as interim coach for the final two matches of the first half of the season, but the club appears determined to secure a more experienced figure for the critical months ahead.
