Radamel Falcao has urged Julián Álvarez to stay at Atlético Madrid, admitting his own departure marked a turning point in his career.

Radamel Falcao believes Julián Álvarez would be making a mistake if he left Atlético Madrid, insisting the Argentine already has everything he needs at the Spanish club.
With speculation continuing to link Álvarez with clubs such as Real Madrid and FC Barcelona, the former Atlético striker has stepped forward to defend the club he still considers special.
Speaking to ESPN, Falcao highlighted the unique bond between Atlético and its supporters.
"I don't know what Atlético Madrid has, but when you arrive there, you realise how passionate the supporters are. If they see you giving everything on the pitch, they embrace you as one of their own. They completely won me over."
'There is no better place for him'
Falcao believes Álvarez would struggle to find a better football environment anywhere else.
"I don't think Julián has a better place than Atlético. There may be projects with more money, but not many. Atlético are already a very strong club. The passion and love from the supporters are something special. And you also live in a great city like Madrid."
The comments carry weight given Falcao's history with the club.
Between 2011 and 2013, the Colombian became one of Atlético's greatest modern heroes, scoring 70 goals in 91 appearances and helping the club win the Europa League, UEFA Super Cup and Copa del Rey.
His performances in major finals remain among the most memorable of the Diego Simeone era.
The move that changed everything
Falcao has previously admitted that leaving Atlético remains one of the defining moments of his career.
In 2013, at the peak of his powers and widely regarded as one of Europe's best strikers, he accepted a lucrative move to AS Monaco.
The transfer, worth around €43 million, came shortly after Russian billionaire Dmitry Rybolovlev invested heavily in Monaco and attracted several high-profile players to the principality.
Financially, the move made sense.
Sportingly, it proved far more damaging.
From Europe's elite to a long decline
After leaving Atlético, Falcao struggled with injuries and a loss of form that prevented him from reaching the extraordinary level he had shown in Madrid.
Unsuccessful spells at Manchester United and Chelsea FC followed, and although he later rebuilt parts of his career, he never truly returned to the level that had earned him the nickname El Tigre.
That experience appears to be the reason behind his warning to Álvarez.
Falcao knows better than most how difficult it can be to leave the right club at the wrong time.
Now aged 40, the Colombian is still playing professionally for Millonarios FC, but his message to Atlético's current star is simple: appreciate what you have before looking elsewhere.
