German football has once again demonstrated its unmatched fan culture, with stadiums across the country continuing to attract large crowds during the 2024/25 season.
Interestingly, it’s not just the Bundesliga teams drawing fans; a remarkable eight teams from the 2nd Bundesliga feature among Germany’s top 15 most attended stadiums.
According to figures from Kicker, Borussia Dortmund tops the list, regularly packing the Westfalenstadion with an average of 81,365 spectators. Following Dortmund is Bayern Munich, whose Allianz Arena hosts a capacity crowd of 75,000 for every home game.
In third place, Schalke 04, despite their relegation, continues to enjoy massive support with 61,187 spectators at the Veltins-Arena. Stuttgart (59,250) and Eintracht Frankfurt (57,729) round out the top five, with both Bundesliga clubs maintaining impressive attendance figures.
The presence of 2nd Bundesliga clubs on the list underscores the depth of fan loyalty in Germany. Hamburger SV leads the second-tier representation with 55,789 spectators, followed by FC Köln (49,944), Hertha Berlin (48,244), and Kaiserslautern (46,276). Even more notable is the inclusion of clubs like Fortuna Düsseldorf (41,675), Hannover 96 (38,722), and FC Nürnberg (35,762).
Among Bundesliga teams, RB Leipzig averaged 44,847 spectators, outperforming the traditionally popular Werder Bremen (41,971), despite its reputation as Germany’s “most hated club.” Leipzig’s attendance figure reflects the steady growth of its fanbase amid a competitive season.
