Croatia honors legendary football coach Miroslav Ćiro Blažević with a commemorative postage stamp, joining a select group of iconic Croatian athletes.
Legendary Croatian football coach Miroslav Ćiro Blažević is set to be commemorated with his own postage stamp by Croatian Post. Known as the “coach of all coaches”, Blažević led Croatia to their first major World Cup success in 1998, winning a bronze medal. The stamp, priced at €1.70, celebrates his 46-year career in football, filled with numerous achievements.
Blažević, born in Travnik, passed away in February last year at the age of 88 after a lengthy battle with cancer. His stamp joins the ranks of other celebrated Croatian sports icons, including Dražen Petrović, Krešimir Ćosić, Janica and Ivica Kostelić, Blanka Vlašić, Goran Ivanišević, and Luka Modrić.
