Cristiano Ronaldo reiterated his belief that the Saudi Pro League (SPL) is stronger than Ligue 1 during his appearance at the Globe Soccer Awards in Dubai.

The Portuguese star has long compared the SPL to Europe’s top leagues and sees it surpassing France's top tier.

At the event, Ronaldo didn’t hold back in his assessment:

"The SPL is better than Ligue 1, of course. I'm not saying that because I play here. I don't care what people think about it. Players should come here and they will see quickly. Just try to do sprints at 38, 39, 40 degrees... Come and you will see. If you don't believe me, come. In France, they only have PSG, everyone else is finished. Nobody can beat them because they have the most money and the best players."

The 38-year-old forward argued that Ligue 1's competitiveness is hindered by PSG's financial and player dominance, while the SPL offers a more challenging and evolving football environment.

Ronaldo also expressed confidence in the SPL's future, believing it could soon rival the world’s best leagues:

"The SPL is growing and of course it will take some time. Step by step it will reach the highest level. I am sure it will become one of the three best leagues in the world. The people of Saudi Arabia can be proud."

As the first major star to join the league, Ronaldo has been pivotal in raising the SPL's profile and attracting other top players, contributing to its rapid development.
