Stade Malherbe de Caen supporters have directed their frustration at Kylian Mbappé’s family after the club’s dismal run left them bottom of Ligue 2.

Stade Malherbe de Caen supporters have turned their frustration towards Kylian Mbappé’s family, unveiling protest banners at the club’s training ground as the team continues its seven-match losing streak.

The club, 80% owned by Mbappé’s investment fund Coalition Capital, has plummeted to the bottom of Ligue 2 following a 3-0 defeat to ESTAC Troyes last weekend. Hopes of promotion, once realistic at the season’s start, have now faded, with Caen sitting seven points adrift of the relegation play-off spot held by Red Star FC.

Local media reports that several banners were displayed at Caen’s training facilities, directly criticizing the Mbappé family and club leadership. One banner took aim at Mbappé’s mother, Fayza Lamari, reading: “Fayza, the peasants are in deep sh•t.”

Another targeted club chairman Ziad Hammoud, with a banner stating: “Hammoud resign. Where are you?” A third message read: “Think of those who work in the shadows,” highlighting fan discontent with the club’s direction and management.

Coalition Capital purchased 80% of the club from American asset management firm Oaktree for €15 million in July. Shortly after, Ziad Hammoud, a former beIN Media Group executive, was appointed as club president.

Despite sacking manager Nicolas Seube in December and replacing him with Bruno Baltazar, Caen’s fortunes have not improved. Last season, the team narrowly missed out on the promotion play-offs by just one point, but this year, the situation has dramatically deteriorated.

With tensions escalating among supporters and the team in freefall, the pressure is mounting on the Mbappé-backed ownership to turn the season around.
