A major scandal erupted in Bulgaria’s First League as fans of Lokomotiva Plovdiv attacked a match delegate during a 0-1 loss to Septemvri Sofia, leaving Slovenian coach Dušan Kosić in shock.

A violent incident marred the Bulgarian First League last weekend during Lokomotiva Plovdiv’s 0-1 defeat against Septemvri Sofia. The match ended in chaos as home fans attacked the match delegate, an event that required medical intervention and an ambulance on the pitch.

The altercation began after a fan required medical attention, prompting an ambulance to enter the field. Tensions escalated when match delegate Kiril Lozanov instructed supporters to return to the stands so the match could be completed. His demand infuriated the crowd, leading to a physical attack on the official.

According to reports, Lozanov was struck multiple times but was spared more serious injuries thanks to security intervention. The situation could have been far worse without the prompt response of stadium officials.

Lokomotiva Plovdiv has since issued an official statement condemning the attack and distancing the club from the violence. Meanwhile, the Bulgarian football authorities have launched an investigation into the incident.

Among those present was Slovenian coach Dušan Kosić, who has been battling to keep Lokomotiva in the league. His team currently sits in 14th place, locked in a fight for survival.

Having spent most of his coaching career in Slovenia, where such incidents are rare, Kosić witnessed firsthand the volatile atmosphere of Bulgarian football.
