Marquinhos expresses frustration after Brazil’s fourth defeat in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, admitting the team lacks confidence and direction.

Brazil’s Marquinhos didn’t hold back after the national team suffered a 1-0 loss to Paraguay in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers. The defeat marks Brazil’s fourth loss in eight matches, leaving them in a precarious position with three wins, one draw, and four losses.

Despite Brazil’s struggles, the good news is that six South American teams will qualify directly for the World Cup, while the seventh-placed team will have a chance to fight for a spot in the play-offs.
"Our coach is still trying to find the right system and style of play. This is affecting our performances and results. Right now, we’re wandering and, worst of all, playing without any confidence," said the PSG defender.

Diego Gomez scored the only goal for Paraguay in the 20th minute, while Brazil’s attacking stars struggled to break through.
"All we can do is work hard to improve. It’s a transition period, and going through a generational change is never easy," Marquinhos added.

Brazil, traditionally known for its attacking prowess, has managed just nine goals in eight qualifiers, averaging just over one goal per game.
