David Beckham could be preparing one of the most nostalgic transfers football has seen in years. If the latest information from Brazil proves accurate, Neymar could join Inter Miami and reunite the legendary MSN attack with Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez.
The Brazilian superstar's contract with Santos expires on December 31, 2026, leaving him free to choose the next, and potentially final, major destination of his career.
Former Brazil international Felipe Melo claims he has already been told where Neymar is heading.
"I talked to a friend of mine who passed me some news about Santos before. He told me Neymar is going to play in Miami. Starting in January, Neymar is going to Miami," Melo said on YouTube.
He was careful to stress that nothing has been confirmed yet.
"If it happens, I was the first one to break the news here. Let's wait and see what happens."
Neymar's future becomes a major transfer story
The 34-year-old has already been linked with several potential destinations as the end of his Santos contract approaches.
Turkish giants Galatasaray have been mentioned among his potential suitors, but Melo's comments have now pushed Inter Miami firmly into the conversation.
There is currently no confirmed agreement between Neymar and Inter Miami.
The possibility is nevertheless fascinating for one obvious reason.
Miami already have Messi and Suarez.
Adding Neymar would bring together one of the most devastating attacking trios football has ever seen.
MSN together again?
Messi, Suarez and Neymar played together at Barcelona between 2014 and 2017 and produced numbers that still look extraordinary.
Their first season together ended with Barcelona winning the historic treble under Luis Enrique.
Across all competitions during that campaign, the trio scored an astonishing 122 goals.
Messi contributed 58, Neymar scored 39 and Suarez added another 25.
It was the beginning of a three-year period in which MSN became synonymous with Barcelona's attacking dominance.
Together they won nine trophies, including the Champions League, two La Liga titles and the Club World Cup.
They eventually separated in 2017 when Neymar completed his record-breaking move to Paris Saint-Germain.
Almost a decade later, Miami could offer them one final opportunity to play together.
Beckham has already built a Barcelona reunion in Miami
Inter Miami's connection with Barcelona runs much deeper than Messi and Suarez.
The Florida club has built much of its international profile around former stars of the Catalan giants, with Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba also forming part of the Miami project.
Neymar would represent another level entirely.
From a sporting perspective, Miami would acquire one of the most gifted attacking players of his generation.
From a commercial perspective, reuniting MSN would immediately become one of the biggest stories in Major League Soccer.
The images alone of Messi, Suarez and Neymar walking onto the pitch together again would attract enormous global attention.
But which Neymar would arrive?
The biggest concern surrounds Neymar's physical condition.
Injuries have repeatedly interrupted the latter stages of his career and prevented him from playing consistently over extended periods.
His technical quality has never been questioned, but at 34, Inter Miami would need to determine how much football Neymar still has in his legs.
That decision becomes considerably easier if he arrives without a transfer fee after his Santos contract expires.
For Neymar, meanwhile, Miami would offer something few other destinations could provide: another opportunity to play alongside two of his closest friends and former teammates.
Nothing has been signed yet. Melo's information remains a claim rather than confirmation of a completed transfer.
But the ingredients are there.
Messi is there. Suarez is there. Neymar could soon be available for free. If Beckham manages to put the final piece in place, football's legendary MSN could have one last dance together, this time in Miami.
