Mikayil Faye made a sensational move from Croatian second-division club Kustošija to Barcelona last year. Today, the Catalans have sold him to Rennes for a substantial profit.
The 20-year-old Senegalese footballer Mikayil Faye made headlines last year with a remarkable transfer. As a client of Croatian agent Andy Bara, Faye was playing for the Croatian second division side Kustošija before making the leap to Spain. He signed for Barcelona, who paid €1.5 million for him and placed him in their second team, competing in Spain's third division.
One year later, Faye is on the move again. His market value has soared, allowing Barcelona to sell him for a significant profit.
Spanish media report that French Ligue 1 side Rennes agreed to pay a transfer fee of €12 million. Barcelona has retained the option to buy Faye back for €35 million, as well as 25% of the proceeds from his next sale.
