With Camp Nou renovations ongoing and Montjuic Stadium unavailable, Barcelona must find a new venue for their 2024/25 Champions League matches, considering options in Valencia or Madrid.
Barcelona is grappling with a significant issue regarding their home venue for the 2024/25 season. With the Camp Nou still under construction or renovation, the club’s temporary home, the Montjuic Stadium, may not be available due to plans by the Barcelona city council to use the venue for other events.
This situation could force Barcelona to play their Champions League matches outside the city. According to Marca, the club is exploring alternative venues as UEFA regulations prohibit changing home venues mid-season.
Three potential options have reportedly been identified:
- Espanyol’s RCDE Stadium in Barcelona
- Mestalla Stadium in Valencia
- Metropolitano Stadium in Madrid, home to Atletico Madrid
The logistical and emotional challenge of playing away from their city adds further pressure on Barcelona, as they aim to balance ongoing renovations with the demands of competing in elite European competitions.
Barcelona’s management is actively searching for a solution to avoid disrupting their Champions League campaign and ensure compliance with UEFA’s strict venue regulations.
