Barcelona dominated El Clasico in the Spanish Super Cup final, securing a 5-2 victory over Real Madrid to lift the trophy in Saudi Arabia.
Barcelona celebrated a triumphant night in Saudi Arabia, defeating arch-rivals Real Madrid 5-2 in an electrifying El Clasico to claim the Spanish Super Cup. The Catalans produced a scintillating first-half performance, scoring four goals to leave Madrid reeling and secure their latest piece of silverware.
Despite Madrid taking an early lead in the 5th minute through a well-taken goal by Kylian Mbappe, things quickly turned into a nightmare for Carlo Ancelotti’s side. Barcelona hit back in the 22nd minute when teenage sensation Lamine Yamal beat Aurelien Tchouameni and fired a precise shot into the bottom corner, leveling the score at 1-1.
Barcelona’s relentless pressure paid off further as they added three more goals before the break. Robert Lewandowski converted from the penalty spot to make it 2-1, before Raphinha headed in a cross from Kounde to extend the lead to 3-1. In stoppage time, Alejandro Balde capped off the half with a superb strike, sending Barcelona into the break with a commanding 4-1 lead.
The second half began with another blow for Real Madrid. A swift Barcelona counterattack left Madrid’s high defensive line exposed, and Raphinha escaped to score his second of the night, making it 5-1.
Real Madrid found a glimmer of hope in the 56th minute when Barcelona goalkeeper Wojciech Szczęsny was sent off for a foul on the edge of the box. Rodrygo stepped up to take the free kick and delivered a brilliant goal, reducing the deficit to 5-2. However, despite their numerical advantage, Madrid failed to capitalize, as Barcelona tightened up defensively under coach Hansi Flick.
The Catalans held firm in the final stages, stifling Real Madrid’s attempts to mount a comeback. With this victory, Barcelona not only claimed another trophy but also gained significant momentum as they prepare to continue their campaign in La Liga and the Champions League.
