Atletico Madrid crushed Sparta Prague on the road, scoring six goals and showcasing their dominance in the Champions League group stage.
Atletico Madrid delivered a stunning performance in the Champions League, demolishing Sparta Prague 6-0 in the Czech capital. The win virtually secures Atletico’s place in the knockout stage, as they put on a clinical display with goals from multiple stars.
A perfect night for Atletico
The scoring began in the 15th minute with a spectacular free-kick goal from Julian Alvarez. The former Manchester City striker delivered a curling effort to open the floodgates. Before halftime, Marcos Llorente added a second with a seemingly unintended goal as his attempted cross sailed past everyone and into the net.
Atletico’s dominance continued in the second half. Alvarez scored his second of the night in the 60th minute after a brilliant one-two with Giuliano Simeone. Ten minutes later, veteran forward Antoine Griezmann joined the party, finding the back of the net to make it 4-0.
The Spaniards weren’t done. In the final moments, Angel Correa capitalized on Sparta’s defensive lapses to score twice and complete the emphatic 6-0 rout.
Oblak’s impenetrable form
Meanwhile, Jan Oblak was in top form, ensuring Atletico kept a clean sheet with a series of composed saves. His leadership in goal continues to anchor the team’s success both domestically and in Europe.
Group stage implications
The result leaves Atletico in a commanding position in their group, with qualification for the knockout rounds almost certain. The next challenge for Diego Simeone’s side will be ensuring this momentum carries into the latter stages of the competition.
