Arsenal and Newcastle battle for PSG’s Kang In Lee, with the South Korean preferring Newcastle as he seeks more playing time in the Premier League.
Kang In Lee, one of the standout names on PSG's transfer list, is attracting significant interest from Arsenal and Newcastle United. Despite limited playing time under Luis Enrique, the offensive midfielder has registered 6 goals and 2 assists in Ligue 1 this season, showcasing his talent and making him a sought-after asset.
Arsenal and Newcastle intensify pursuit
While Arsenal was the first club to express interest, Newcastle has emerged as a strong contender, seeking a versatile player who can operate as an attacking midfielder or a right winger.
Kang In Lee is under contract with PSG until 2028, but his departure appears imminent. PSG reportedly prefers a permanent transfer, although a loan with an option to buy could also be considered. The deal is expected to cost around €25 million plus add-ons, a fee that would provide PSG with a modest profit after signing Kang from Mallorca for €22 million.
Newcastle emerges as Kang’s preferred option
The player is currently negotiating with both clubs, but reports suggest that Kang sees Newcastle as his preferred destination, aiming for more playing time in Eddie Howe’s setup. Although Arsenal offers an appealing project under Mikel Arteta, Newcastle’s immediate opportunities for minutes and role in the team may sway the decision.
If the transfer materializes, Kang In Lee could provide an injection of creativity and attacking options for either Premier League club.
