Armin Gigović, the new addition to Bosnia and Herzegovina's national team, shared his reasons for choosing to represent his homeland over Sweden.

During today's media activities within the Bosnia and Herzegovina national team, new recruit Armin Gigović and coach Zlatan Bajramović addressed the press.

Gigović, who previously captained Sweden's U-21 team, has decided to play for Bosnia and Herzegovina, the country of his heritage. The 22-year-old midfielder recently won the Danish championship with Midtjylland and explained how he parted ways with the Swedish national setup to commit to Bosnia and Herzegovina.

"I am very glad to be here. As soon as Barbarez and Spahić joined the national team, they immediately called me and showed interest and desire for me to come and play here. As I said, my father and I were thrilled. There was also a connection with Sweden."

"They were waiting to see my plan, and I told them I wanted to play for my country, Bosnia, and they respected that decision. Now I am here, happy to meet new players and the coaching staff. I can't wait for the upcoming matches," said Gigović, expressing his satisfaction with the reception in the Bosnia and Herzegovina national team: "

The impressions are good, both about the coaches and the staff. There is nothing more to say; everyone is pleasant and open. The most important thing is that the focus is here, that we give our best and prepare for these two fantastic matches," Gigović added.

The young defensive midfielder left Midtjylland, where he played on loan from Russian club Rostov, and recently won a title there. Now, he awaits a new club engagement.

"It was a long, tough season. The title race was intense. I'm glad I could finish with a title. I've been informed that I won't continue there, but I'm happy to have won my first career title," Gigović mentioned.

Gigović is set to make his debut for Bosnia and Herzegovina in a match against one of the favorites for the European Championship, England.

"Of course, it will be a big game for me and the younger players in the team. England is England, but I will approach that match as if it's a team from Denmark or Sweden, with whom I've played, and I'll leave my heart on the field. I can't wait for my debut. This is what I've been looking forward to," concluded the young footballer.
