Angel Di Maria's heartfelt desire to conclude his illustrious football career at home has been overshadowed by a dark cloud of criminal threats.

The Argentine winger's return to Benfica was seen as a step towards a final stint with Rosario Central, the club from his youth. However, this intention has triggered a chilling response from criminal elements within Rosario, putting the safety of Di Maria's family at risk.

In a sinister message, Di Maria's family in Rosario received a death threat clearly stating, "Tell your son Angel not to return to Rosario, or we will kill a member of his family. We do not leave written messages; we leave bullets and dead bodies." This threat has underscored the perilous reality faced by many in Argentina, particularly in Rosario, where drug-related violence has surged. The area has become notorious for its armed gangs that intimidate and exert control, leaving communities in fear.

Maximiliano Pullaro, a key figure in the Santa Fe region's political landscape, was also mentioned in the threat, highlighting the complexities and challenges in combating organized crime in the area. Despite efforts by Argentine authorities to address and dismantle these criminal networks, the path to safety and stability appears long and fraught with challenges.

This situation not only casts a shadow over Di Maria's potential homecoming but also brings to light the broader issue of security and the impact of criminal gangs on public life in Argentina. It raises questions about the safety of public figures and the extent to which their careers and personal lives are influenced by the threat of violence.
